“Arthur what are you — !!”
“Shhhhh just come.”
Really Arthur I don’t think you have to resort to chloroform I’m pretty sure he’s in to you.
I think to any of my non-Merlin followers, based on what I blog, Merlin must look like an adult medieval drama that focuses on love triangles, sex, secrets, Merthur, war, sex, magic, lies, tears, betrayal and Merlin and Arthur fighting their legendary love for each other.

Merlin folded his arms in satisfaction. “Good luck.”.
Once again Arthur found himself surprised and confused by Merlin. After the previous day he had nearly decided to try and get into his armour unaided - anything to avoid Merlin’s clumsy half-hearted bumbling. But the boy had obviously gone away and practiced, learned from his mistakes. Arthur couldn’t understand why. It had been obvious from the day they had met that the two had fairly low opinions of each other, but whereas most servants would just bite their lip and knuckle down, Merlin was constantly challenging him, constantly forcing him to re-evaluate himself and his opinions.
He should be finding it annoying, possibly even discourteous, but instead Arthur found Merlin’s frank openness almost refreshing. He had been competing in the championships for many years now, and never once in that time had any of his servants ever wished him good luck, let alone one who wouldn’t say it unless he really meant it.
It was surprising how much it heartened him.
Merlin followed Arthur out into the morning light, watching as the prince stepped out to the adulation of the crowd. Someone cheered his name and soon the entire audience was chanting and stamping their feet in rhythm. Despite himself Merlin found himself caught up in the moment, and before long he was clapping and cheering as loudly as the rest of them. He knew that he had done a good job this morning, and Arthur had known it too.
Perhaps they were going to make a better team than either of them had thought.
